Berberine is a bioactive compound found in the roots, rhizomes, stems, and bark of a variety of plants including barberry, goldenseal, oregon grape and tree turmeric. It has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, being used to treat various ailments, such as infections. The alkaloid has a bitter taste and a strong yellow colour.
Much of the modern day research surrounding this herbal supplement centres around its effects on lowering cholesterol, as well as its effects on lowering blood sugar, and the potential benefit to people managing type 2 diabetes.
Each capsule gives 500mg of this beneficial herbal extract, using premium grade, water extracted, wild harvest Berberis aristata root.
