Who is Linus Pauling?

From America; Linus Pauling was a Nobel Prize winning biochemist of the twentieth century. Extraordinarily gifted, he was born in Portland, Oregon in 1901, and lived until 1994; devoting his life to science.

Linus made significant breakthroughs and contributions to science in a wide range of scientific fields.

Falling dangerously ill in the 1940’s Linus was treated for a number of years and survived, sparking his interest into the close links and relationship between nutrition, disease and health.

One main focus of his work, particularly in the 1970’s and 80’s centred on researching Vitamin C and the health benefits of large doses to treat heart disease and atherosclerosis.

Linus Pauling’s therapy for cardiovascular and heart disease was high doses of 2 essential nutrients – Vitamin C, and the amino acid Lysine. Both are vital in smaller amounts, but can be taken safely in high amounts, with neither having a known toxic dosage.

Pauling theorized that too little Vitamin C elevates cholesterol levels, including the Lp(a) variant that causes narrowing of blood vessels. Vitamin C is essential for the synthesis of collagen, and Lysine also helps in the formation of Collagen which is the body’s main structural building block.

Pauling recommended taking 6+ grams per day of Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) along with 2 – 6g per day of Lysine into divided doses.

Based on the findings we have formulated our LP5 blend specifically with heart health in mind; we have combined Vitamin C, along with the amino acids Lysine, Proline and Glycine, which all work in conjunction with the Vitamin C for the synthesis of collagen to promote healthy connective tissue; including the veins and arteries for vascular health. Our orange flavoured formula is pleasant to drink and easy to incorporate into your daily diet up to 3 times per day following meals. Each 10g serving (approximately one rounded 15ml scoop) offers 2g of Vitamin C, along with 1g of Lysine, 1g of Proline, 1g of Glycine and 0.75g of Marine Collagen. The addition of Rice Bran in our new and improved formula helps with the mixing and flow of the blend to reduce clumping. We have flavoured our formula to make it all the more enjoyable. We have used a natural flavouring system with added mixed tocopherols, maltodextrin and gum Arabic – no artificial sweeteners.
